Learn to build engaging websites—even if coding scares you
Whether you're a seasoned designer with web-building aspirations that can't seem to come to life or a marketer with ideas that hold you back from implementing and making an impact, this course is for you! In just five days, this hands-on program will take you through the basics of web design and Webflow until—eureka!—you’ve built your first website (and your first portfolio sample).
By the end of the course, you’ll:
Let go of that pesky fear of failure
Learn how to fix things when they break (because no matter how long you’ve been building websites, sometimes things break)
Understand the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and user experience design (they’re not as scary as they sound—promise!)
Get comfortable with the workflow and methodology of building any website, including Webflow
Have a working portfolio site, complete with database and CMS
And did I mention that there’s no code experience required? That every Monday in February we’ll feature an expert guest speaker to keep you inspired? And that you’ll have lifetime access to the course’s video library?
My goal is to help you understand the core concepts of website building. Anyone can tell you which button to click, but not every class tells you why that particular button. Once you understand that, you’ll be on your way to mastering not only Webflow, but any future web design or no-code tool you want to use.
We’ve tested our course and it went pretty well. Here’s what some of our first students had to say:
"The Pixel Geek Visual Development Course provided a safe space to explore, question, break, and create no-code code among a diverse group of creatives"
Amanda Melton - NROC Project, Director of Marketing and Communications
"I really enjoyed the Visual Development course. The pace and content was perfect for me. Nelson is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He created a safe space for questions without judgement."
Melissa Ramirez - Graphic Designer
About your teacher
Hey there, internets, I’m Nelson. I've been learning, growing, and leading with empathy about website building and being a good human while doing it for 25 years and building websites within Webflow for seven. I’ve hosted their official livestreams, taught at universities, traveled the country, and solved problems for thousands of Webflow users.
More importantly, I love to learn, and I love to teach. I created this course because I want to teach visual web development in a way that feels honest, empathic, and—above all—fun. Because I want you to have a place you can feel safe asking any question (even the most basic) and get live, real-time answers. And because I want to watch every student have that ah-ha lightbulb-over-the-head moment where the things you’ve been working to learn just click into place.
Every session will include a 30- to 60-minute lesson and a one-hour breakout session where you’ll experiment with what you’ve learned and ask questions in real time (after all: study after study shows that hands-on learning is vastly more effective than lengthy lecture halls).
Sessions run from 8am to 12pm Pacific Time on February 8 – 12, 2021.
Lessons and breakout sessions will cover everything from the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and the box model (session 2) to adding and styling elements (session 3), positioning (session 6) to forms (session 9), and Webflow templates (session 10) to SEO (session 12).
Did we mention the community?
The masterclass comes with three months of access to a private, monitored student chat board where you can network, make friends, ask questions, and get help—from your fellow students and from me.
